A fatal collision involving two vehicles and seven passengers occurred on the San Juan Ridge Thursday evening. CHP Officer Geg Tassone says that one vehicle lost control and collided head-on with the second vehicle just before 6:30 PM.

Both cars went off the road and overturned. The Yaris sustaining the heavier damage of the two vehicles.

The driver, Ellen Metz-Titer, 38, succumbed to her injuries. The passenger sitting behind the driver sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Sutter Roseville Hospital in critical condition. A total of seven people between the two vehicles that were injured and transported to either Sutter Roseville or Sierra Nevada Memorial hospital.
