Thanks to everyone that has taken the time to write Jim Kerr a note or card, or paid him a visit, while he rehabs after a recent heart procedure down at Mercy General. Currently, he is over at Springhill Manor. Now, some might ask, “Who is this Jim Kerr?” Jim was a fixture at KNCO for a couple of decades and did everything here…from sales, to d.j., to news director, and Morning Show host on Newstalk 830. He is a great guy…and a tough guy. You might not know this, but Jim also had a heart “problem” about 15 years ago or so—drove himself over to Sierra Nevada AFTER his airshift. They told him..you are not going anywhere..you are having a heart attack. It is a legendary story here at the station. Of course, since he was actively on the air at that time, he got lots of attention and well wishes. That is not quite the case now…no one’s fault really, just being out of the spotlight and respecting one’s privacy…we did not let the word out that Jim was struggling. Well…consider the word out. Jim spent a long time lifting the spirits of this community, whether waking you up in the morning, volunteering for a non-profit fundraiser, or maybe emceeing a spelling bee. I hope you can take the time to write a quick note to him. You can drop it by the station, or mail it to Jim Kerr at 1255 E Main St, Suite A, Grass Valley 95945. Or..since you are reading this on your computer or smart phone…you can also email a note to him as well. Just send it to tom@kncooldsite.com and I will make sure he gets it. It will really help lift his spirits. And it’s the least we can do for such a wonderful gentleman. Thanks.
