Get ready for a big change in the Cal Trans construction zone on Highway 49 at La Barr Meadows outside Grass Valley. Rochelle Jenkins is with CalTrans.

It will be a little different and improve visibility for local residences getting onto the highway. Jenkins says they will still have the white concrete barriers called K-rails on the sides of the lanes to protect motorists from the construction equipment and workers in the construction area.

Jenkins says the temporary lanes will be in place until late September and the signal light at 49 and La Barr Meadows will be operational within the next two months.
The entire Highway 49/La Barr Meadows construction project is slated for completion by the end of 2012.
