The Nevada Union Miners received an eventful surprise visit from a few retired NFL pros. On Saturday morning, August 11th, 2012, the Nevada Union Miners football team returned from practice to find a full spread of mini bagels, fresh fruit, refreshments as well as an inspirational pre-season talk by a few of the NFL’s retired professional players . The pro’s recognized the Miners for their hard work and dedication as each Pro shared a bit of pre-season encouragement with an inspirational talk from a personal and professional perspective. The pros captured the attention of the audience through positive speech on the importance of family values, character building, making good choices and achieving goals.
Following the meet-and-greet visit at Nevada Union, the pros headed off on a private tour of CoRR’s new facility, The Campus located at 180 Sierra College Drive in Grass Valley. Post-tour was an exciting trip to the Nevada County Fair where the Pro’s made a stop at the NEO Teen section to visit with youth and parents. They tossed footballs and signed autographs as they discussed with the parents and youth the importance of being committed to healthy choices and a healthy lifestyle.
Many thanks to Ted Popson, former San Francisco 49’er, Greg Roeszler, former Oakland Raider, Anthony Bell, former Oakland Raider, Vidal Carlin, former St. Louis Cardinal, and Norm Thompson, former St. Louis Cardinal and the Northern California Chapter of Retired NFL Players Association for their commitment to youth. These events were made possible through a partnership of The Coalition for a Drug Free Nevada County, CoRR, and Nevada Union Miners Football.
