A couple is arrested their children in the care of relatives and child protective services after deputies respond to a reported domestic violence situation. Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal; says deputies responding to a Rough and Ready Highway home on Friday afternoon found both 36 year old Frank Vargas and 31 year old Stacey Laney with head injuries. The Sheriff says the two gave conflicting stories about the fight.

The Sheriff says the two year old child was taken into the custody of Child Protective Services. Several dogs were taken by animal control. An older 11 year old went to other family members. The Sheriff said both of the combatants were taken into custody for suspicion of domestic violence and being under the influence of methamphetamine.
