Friday, Jayson Allen Maglaya was sentenced to 28 years to life in state prison. In a jury trial conducted in December of 2013, the Defendant was convicted of one count of attempted murder and one count of assault with a deadly weapon. Nevada County District Attorney Cliff Newell says the incident occurred on July 15, 2012 at the Safeway located on Donner Pass Road in Truckee.

The Defendant was later found in the neighborhood of Glenshire by the Truckee Police Department.

Maglaya had one previous strike for a 1st degree residential burglary and one strike for an attempted 1st degree residential burglary. Deputy DA Raymond DeJesus prosecuted the case.
