The June 3, 2014 Statewide Direct Primary Election is rapidly approaching. Ballots have already been sent to our Uniformed and Overseas voters, well before the April 19th E-45 deadline. Nevada County Assistant Clerk-Recorder Sandra Sjoberg says Nevada County greatly improved the Military/Overseas ballot delivery by implementing Democracy Live, a web-based voter service and electronic ballot delivery system. Members of the military can access their voter information online.

Another system that is being piloted in Nevada County is the Electronic Poll Book System. The new system will make checking voters in a more streamline process as well as helping voters find the correct poll location or vote provisionally if need be.

The system will also allow poll workers to close out at the end of the voting session much more quickly. Rather than a 30-45 minute process of tabulating and signing paperwork, it will take 10-15 minutes to close out a precinct.
