An 88 year old Truckee woman apparently passed away as the result of lack of care. Tuesday evening just after 8:00 Truckee police were dispatched to a Martis Valley Road Apartment complex regarding a deceased person. Upon arrival, Captain Rob Leftwich says officers confirmed the 88 year old woman was deceased.

Captain Leftwich says there were several indicators of abuse or neglect.

The woman’s son, David Jenkins age 61, was living with her in the apartment and both had been in the Truckee area for about a year. It does not appear the woman was under the care of a physician or Home Hospice. As a result of the initial investigation, Jenkins was arrested on two felony counts, murder in the second degree and elder abuse.
