Alta Sierra Property owners have voiced some concerns about a plan to bring a Dollar General store into their community. The discount store is proposed for the shopping area on Alta Sierra Drive just off of Highway 49. The 9-thousand 100 square foot store could be accessed by Little Valley road as well as Alta Sierra Drive. Nevada County Principal Planner Tyler Barrington says the project was first proposed July of last year and it is in the land use entitlement stage and the parcel they are considering is zoned Commercial. Barrington says the County has prepared an enviornmental document of the potential impacts of the project. *
63 trees will need to be removed. *
The formula is two to one for the mitigation so the 1.4 acres where they are removing the black oak woodland will be countered with 2.8 acres of comparable vegetated land given to the Bear Yuba Land Trust. The Public hearing on the project is scheduled for Wednesday at the Nevada County Board of Supervisors Chambers at the Rood Center. *
The item is scheduled to be heard at 1:40 Wednesday afternoon.
