Listen to sound of swearing-in ceremony
Benjamin Aguilar took the oath of office from City Clerk Kristi Bashor at the beginning of last night’s meeting. He then immediately took his seat on the far left of the dais and went to work. Aguilar is a former planning commissioner, so being in that seat wasn’t completely foreign to him…
The council chambers had a lot of people in the audience-many of them members of Aguilar’s family…
It was a light business load for Aguilar’s first meeting, but one of the issues was a slight zoning change that Aguilar was familiar with from the Planning Commission. That change was unanimously approved. The Aguilar family, incidentally, isn’t new to local politics. Ben’s uncle Paul Aguilar is a former Grass Valley Planning Commissioner, and is currently on the Nevada County Planning Commission.
